It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the official website of African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in English (ARCSSTEE).

The centre which was inaugurated on the 24th of November 1998 is located inside the campus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. It is one of the four UN regional centres for training and education in the applications of space science and technology in four key areas: remote sensing/GIS, satellite meteorology, satellite communication and basic space/atmospheric science. Till date, the centre has trained more than 200 participants from fifteen African member states (Anglophone countries) in its 9-month postgraduate diploma (PGD) programme.

As an activity centre under National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), the centre is tasked with carrying out Education Outreach (EO) programmes designed to improve general knowledge about space science amongst school children and to create the public awareness. In achieving these goals, the centre periodically organizes school-based workshops on space education with themes on applications and benefits of Space Science and Technology (SST). Over 4000 students from both primary and secondary schools have participated. The centre also organizes similar workshops/presentations to other geopolitical zones of the country.

The contents of the website captures the educational activities engaged by the centre. The listing is by no means complete as more materials are added periodically. The intention is to use the web to distribute teaching resources to ensure we are able to reach the far corners of the country by our mandates.
